Introduction
This policy explains what Batasari collects about you, why, who can see it, and how to have it deleted. It applies to the Batasari app and website.
What we collect
Your name, email address or phone number, and date of birth (to confirm you're 18 or older); your profile photo and anything else you add to your profile; the trips, posts, photos and messages you share; the secret places you share; where you're going next, if you add it in Connect, and who you connect with; when you last had the app open (for Online now); your UPI ID if you add one for Split costs; a selfie from the app's face check, and your gender (or that you'd rather not say), if you ask to be verified; your Premium payments (handled by Razorpay - we never see your card or UPI PIN); and any feedback or support messages you send.
Location
With your permission, Batasari uses your location to show places near you, and shares it with a squad only when you choose to share it in that squad's chat. For Near you in Connect, the app works out on your phone only the name of the city you're in and sends just that name; it counts for 3 days. Nobody is ever shown your exact location or how far away you are. A secret place you share shows where that place is; others see it two hours after you share it, so nobody can tell you are there at that moment.
How we use it
To run Batasari: to show your profile and trips to other travellers, connect you with people going your way, keep the community safe, answer support requests, and improve the app. Only your age is shown to others, never your date of birth. Signed-in travellers can find you by name or by the Batasari ID on your profile, and see only your name, photo, home city and whether you are verified. Once you are verified, Connect also shows you to travellers going your way: your name, photo, age, home city, where you're going next and where you're starting from if you add them, and whether you're online now. Near you shows verified travellers in the same city: your home city, or the city you're in now if you allow location (others see that city only when it's their city too). Turn off “Let others find me” in Privacy & Security and you're not shown in Connect or found by name (your Batasari ID still finds you). The face check finds your face and a blink on your own device; only the selfie you upload is sent. It is seen only by our team and deleted as soon as they have decided. Your gender is only used for women-only and men-only trips and, if you choose it in Connect, to show you only to your own group (women, men, or people who preferred not to say); it isn't shown on your profile. Chats are private to the people in them; if someone in a chat reports another member, our safety team can read that chat for 90 days to look into the report, and every such review is recorded.
Who we share it with
Batasari does not sell your personal information. It is shared only with services that run the app for us (such as hosting, email and payments), when the law requires it, or when you choose to share it.
Keeping it safe
We use industry-standard security to protect your information. No online service can promise complete security.
Batasari is for adults
Batasari is only for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger; if we learn that we have, we delete it.
Your rights
You can see and update your profile, change your privacy settings, and delete your account at any time - in the app under Profile → Privacy & Security, or at batasariapp.com/delete-account.html. Deleting your account deletes your profile, posts, photos and feedback.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Important changes will be shown in the app first.
